Why is premarital counseling important?


It establishes a much greater potential for the marriage to be successful according to many statistical research findings.

It gives insights into relationship building that could not have been present without objective observance.

It provides teaching on tried and true principles and practices for successful relationships.

It assists in resolving issues that may be difficult to deal with. 

It helps people who have had failed associations move beyond those to successful relationship.

It points out potential problem areas before they become overwhelming challenges.


Who should do marriage counseling?


Every couple getting married!  Premarital counseling provides objectivity that may not otherwise be present.

 

How long should pre-marriage counseling last?


The sessions should be long enough to give general foundational guidelines and address specific issues that present themselves.  Typically counseling before marriage at CCS entails 5 to 6 hours of testing and personal interaction.  There are homework assignments to supplement the in session time.

 

What should be the topics of pre-marital counseling?


Foundational topics:  Love, Respect, Trust, Forgiveness, Intimacy

Practical topics:  Communication, Finances, Sex, Mutual relationships, Roles


When should pre-marital counseling take place?


The ideal time is 3 to 6 months before the wedding.
